Which Fashionable Decade(s) Do you Like....
Since I started this thread, I'll go first....
I actually like 1940s and 1950s, especially since those were the decades of the Pin-ups and many of those styles are incorporated into Burlesque and the always edgy, sexy yet classy Rockabilly. But I also lean towards the 1920s and 30s because of the Art Deco Style.

I think I am still stuck in the 80's to 90's. Big hair, warmers, and the punk rock styles of those times. Also gotta love the leather jacket with studs and chains, and boys with hotrods! ;p

Oh ooo-bee-doo, I wanna be like you.
I want to walk like you, talk like you, do.
You'd see it's true, an ape like me,
can learn to be, human, too.

I love 50s style. I love the dresses, the hair and make up and the overall look of it. It just, looks so refined. But it must have been such hard work to get the hair and the make up done to look just right.
I think it's also that it's the one style that I know would fit my body type and complexion very well.

50's definitely. I wish I'd been a teen then! 70's British punk is cool too.

Re: Which Fashionable Decade(s) Do you Like....
Tough choice.....Fashions for guys just never really seem to change from one decade to the next. It's always Suits for the 'Gentleman', and leather jackets and blue jeans for that 'bad boy' look.
I was born in the 60's, so can't say I remember much of the look then....70's as I look back now....god, atrocious. I can't believe we pulled our socks up THAT high while wearing those goofy looking shorts. 80's was a fun decade. Even for guys. There were a bunch of varying looks from Pop, to Punk, to the Heavy Metal and then to the underground Punk look. Worst look of that decade though had to be the 'leisure suits'....man were those things awful.
And lets not even mention mullets.
90's brought the 'grunge' era....I'd imagine if everyone living in Seattle looked like that, it would be a rather dull place.
Then the new Millennia...and what do we get??? Shorts with a waste line at the knees.
So I guess if I have to pick one era....even not of these I mentioned....I'd pick the 40's. The world was at war but for those that were 'home' working...dress was important. You cared about your appearance back then. Your job...you were THANKFUL you had one and wanted to look sharp for your boss, co-workers, and your clients/customers. Even go a decade forward to the 50's....Remember the Texaco service man? Dressed in white as they came to fill your tank, check your oil, wash your windows, and put air in your tires. Boy how times have changed.

Re: Which Fashionable Decade(s) Do you Like....
Unfortunately, being one of the younger ones here, I was born int he 90's.
So in some way, that "look" will always be favoured by me, despite that I didn't really get to wear it all that much due to agegap.
I do fancy 1890's-1920's look... tho I don't know why.
Maybe it's because it's so formal.. or something I could personally see myself wearing.
Also, to add, I found this video on my facebook that was really interesting to me.
To clarify, which gets oftenly mistaken due to my outfit choices on IMVU, I'm not african by any means.
I just like the variety and twisting it with my style.
Anyways, the video is about African hair through history.

Women = early 50s. Men = 1930s. Both = The Mods of the early 60s

Hard to pick, but I'm going for 1940s - 1960s. At least when I watched the classic movies, I always noted the outfits. They often look both very comfy and very classy, and the materials look wonderful.
Actually I consider 60s as very fun loving decade, at least from the footage I've seen - movies and family films and photos. And then there was the many icons - Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot,The Supremes, you name it.

Re: Which Fashionable Decade(s) Do you Like....
There are things from pretty much every decade I like, and things I don't I suppose. There are absolutely stunning looks, and hideous ones (subjective of course) from every time frame. It's fun to see how fads come and go, then come back around with a twist!
Looks wise I do tend to favor the structured garments over the unstructured ones. Comfort wise it's just the opposite. (girdles = ugh!)
I guess with proper fitting undergarments any style can look nice... but man, some of those undergarments are more like torture devices. lol
I guess I'm another fan of the 1930's - 1960's styles, although I do like some aspects of earlier decades and later ones too.
I can just skip the 'let it all hang out' part of the 70's though. I was eye level at the time.
No.
More.
Agh.
Put it away.
please! lol

LMAO!
A few people picked the 80s, Gaf.
I'll admit the 80s had some style, however some of the hairstyles, make-up and especially neon colored clothes were sometimes a bit much.

Re: Which Fashionable Decade(s) Do you Like....
I like some of the 40s 50s hairstyles, the 60s and up for hair I like more with exception to some of the outlandish Hair. As for the clothing styles I like the 60s 70s and some of the 80s... the Bright neon Not so much from the 80s kind makes me wonder why I put that chit on back then lol. For 90s stuff it's basically a mesh up of the earlier decades so I can't really say what I like from the 90s the 2000s basically the same as the 90s but with less covering the skin so... eh to 2000s lol
