Introducing the NEW Creator Tiers System
Dear Creators,

We are excited to let you know that we have been working on several initiatives related to your success on IMVU, including our new IMVU Studio BETA tool, the Creator Ads Program and more.

In addition, we’re introducing a new program designed to acknowledge Creators for their hard work and contributions. After months of engineering and testing with a small group of real IMVU Creators, we are rolling out a new 10-level Creator Tiers system today, June 24th.

You are leaders of the IMVU community, and we see that your success is tied to the ways you make a positive impact for IMVU members, such as your avatar, your designs, and your shop. Participating in the IMVU “experience” means everything from creating great fashion, furniture, rooms, and more, to connecting with users and sharing your passion for the platform. Engaging in these activities promotes your brands and encourages healthy sales that support your IMVU lifestyle. We are a team in your success, because IMVU also benefits when you are successful.

Our new model is designed to encourage activity in the platform and promote increases in your sales. This will provide more opportunities to new as well as established Creators.

The new Tiers System renews every 30 days and focuses on two primary categories: Recent Product Creation and Sales. Creators also have opportunities to gain Bonus Points while they hone their skills.

We encourage you to keep your catalog updated with high quality products on a consistent basis as IMVU users look for what’s new. Make sure your derivations and original meshes appear obviously unique. Put your own personality and style into your products. When you put extra care into the items you create, IMVU members will notice and so will we!

Just like today, you will be able to see your current Tier status on the Creator Dashboard. At the start of each month, everyone’s status will be recalculated, so that active accounts can move through the Tier system again.

As we roll out this new system, we will be adding more opportunities to accumulate points and will keep you posted as these new benefits are launched. Also, we will be phasing out Stickers as part of our Sales metrics. This may impact your Sales points over the next few weeks. By the beginning of August, Sticker sales will be excluded from Sales metrics entirely.

Additional information about the Tiers System can be found in this FAQ: im.vu/help916

If you have questions regarding your status at any time, you can contact our Customer Care team here https://help.imvu.com/s/contactus.

Hi Creators,

Please see below for more answers and updates. We’re also updating our FAQs with the same information.

Where is my Creator Dashboard?

To find your Creator Dashboard, go to https://www.imvu.com/creators/creator_dashboard.php and click on the "My Tier" tab.

Are Helpers included in the “Greeter & Community Volunteers?”

Helpers are normally not included but IMVU Staff reserve the right to make exceptions for long term Helpers who have been exceptional in the IMVU Discussions.

Are Outfits, Bundles, and Decorated Rooms counted in the Tiers System?

None of these product types are counted as Creations but they are counted as “Sales (derived).” Each individual item within them is also counted as “Sales (derived).”

Are Avatars Counted as Meshes?

If an avatar contains a mesh file it is considered a mesh. If an avatar only includes .xaf files (animation files) it will be counted as an animation.

What are the exact Sales, Creation and Bonus Point activities needed for each Tier level?

Since we may have the need to adjust these levels over time, especially in the next couple of months, we are not announcing the exact numbers at this time.

Do products need to go through Peer Review to be counted in the Tiers System?

Creation metrics don’t require Peer Review. Sales metrics and Sellable Items require Peer Review.

Have Credit Transfer Limits changed in the new Tiers System?

The limits for each Tier are not drastically different. Tier 0 and 10 Creators have the same limits as Tier 0 and Tier 7 in the old system. Tiers 1 through 9 Creators have the same limits as the old system, but they are spread evenly among 9 levels instead of 6.

In the “My Tier” Dashboard what’s the difference between “Total Points Achieved” and “Total Points?”

“Total Points Achieved” are the actual points you earned. “Total Points” are what you receive after Maximum Points are factored in.

Here's an example:

You earn 60 points for Creation. That is your “Total Points Achieved”
“Maximum Points” allows up to 45 points for Creation
Your “Total Points” for Creation is 45 (after the “Maximum Points” is factored in)

The “My Tier” Dashboard date range is confusing. How do I read it?

Your Tier level is determined by your activity from the previous calendar month. If your date range is “2020-May-01 and 2020-Jun-01” your Tier score is looking at the month of May, or May 1 through 31.

NOTE: previously I had said that the activity was calculated every 30 days. I misspoke and have corrected the information in the FAQ.

ADDED JUNE 25, 2020

Hi Creators,

Here are the answers to some of your questions - keep your eye out for more updates and answers as we review all of your feedback.

Where is my Pro Badge?

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The Pro badge is not appearing for Creators who just achieved Pro level in the new system. This is a bug and will be fixed. Pro badges for these Tier levels should appear starting in July.

How Many Points Does it Take To Achieve Each Tier Level?

10 points - Tier 1
20 points -Tier 2
30 points - Tier 3
40 points -Tier 4
50 points -Tier 5
60 points -Tier 6
70 points -Tier 7
80 points -Tier 8
90 points -Tier 9
100 points -Tier 10

What are the Submission Fees for Each Tier Level?

500 credits - Tier 0
465 credits -Tier 1
430 credits - Tier 2
395 credits -Tier 3
360 credits -Tier 4
325 credits -Tier 5
290 credits -Tier 6
255 credits -Tier 7
220 credits -Tier 8
185 credits -Tier 9
150 credits -Tier 10

Will Peer Review Take Longer because of the new Tiers System?

We’re always actively monitoring Peer Review to make sure there are enough voters to handle the load. After the first 24 hours, products are passing through Peer Review at the same speed as they were before this Tiers change.

Why should I do Peer Review when people are just getting kicked out anyway?

We remove Peer Review privileges for one of two reasons: voting Pass on a very obvious UFI product or not consistently voting with the majority outcome of the product. There’s a misconception that if you correctly fail a product and it ultimately passes that you are at risk of losing your voting privileges. This is not true. We actually expect that most active Peer Reviewers should NOT be at 100% accuracy, and the rule that removes people from Peer Review takes that into account.

Why is the Greeter Program included?

We want to recognize Creators who contribute to the community. If you are unable to join this program we encourage you to participate in Peer Review.

Why are Creation metrics included in the Tiers System? Won’t that cause Creators to flood the catalog?

Creation was included in the previous Tiers System and we feel this is a vital part of being an IMVU Creator. Creators can only achieve a maximum of 45 points for Creating. We think this safety net will de-motivate Creators from flooding their catalogs.

Why are my “New Mesh Submissions” and “New Texture and Animation Submissions” not being counted?

New submissions are calculated each month and your current Tier is based on the previous month of activity. So in June your metrics will reflect activity between May 1 and May 31. This is why products submitted in the current month aren’t affecting your Tier level.

NOTE: changed "May 2" to "May 1." That was a typo.

I don’t understand what Minimum Requirements means.

Each Tier level requires that you have a certain number of products in your catalog. In addition, Tiers 8, 9 and 10 require a minimum number of products created in the last 60 days. These are separate metrics from the “New Mesh Submissions” and “New Texture and Animation Submissions.”

What is the Maximum Points column in the “My Tier” Dashboard?

The maximum Points column shows the highest number of points a Creator can achieve for a category or a metric (activity).

Category - the maximum number of points you can get for the Sales category is 55 points. The maximum number of points you can get for the Creation category is 45 points. The maximum for Bonus Points is 45.

Metric (activity) - here are two examples of maximum points for metrics (activities). The maximum number of points you can get for “Product Sold” is 30. The maximum number of points you can get for Peer Review is also 30.

ADDED JULY 8

Hi Creators,

Here are answers to your latest questions:

Do I get Tier points for gifting someone? Or purchasing my own products?

If you purchase a product, whether your own or someone else’s, it will be counted towards Tier points. This includes gifts as well.

Is Peer Review slowing because of the Tiers System Update?

No, the Tiers System update is not directly impacting Peer Review.

What we are seeing is a general increase in product submissions, most likely due to the Stay In Place policies for COVID19. The upward trend has been happening since March of this year and continues to impact us. At the same time, we are continuing to remove Peer Reviewers who are not paying attention and voting incorrectly too much.

As always, engaging in Peer Review is the most effective way to speed up the Peer Review process.

Do music boxes count towards Creation?

If a music box only contains a sound trigger it does not count towards Creation. In order to count as a Creation, a product must contain a texture, animation or mesh file.

Is the IMVU Catalog being negatively impacted by the new Tiers System?

We see no new negative trends in the IMVU Catalog directly caused by the new Tiers system.

I lost my Master Badge. Have they disappeared with the new Tiers System?

Thank you for catching that. This was a bug and is being fixed.

ADDED JULY 9

We are hearing a lot of questions from you all about quality vs. quantity and celebrating Creators who make meaningful contributions to the IMVU Catalog. We will be taking these points (and other feedback) into consideration for the future. We can't guarantee anything of course but we hear you and have some ideas about how we might address these concerns.

ADDED JULY 16

We are considering an adjustment to the Tiers based on your feedback. We can't guarantee anything of course but we hear you and we are actively researching this potential change. Will keep you posted.

ADDED July 27th

A help article about the New Creator Tier System - https://help.imvu.com/s/article/Introdu ... ier-System

ADDED JULY 28

Hi Folks,
We're getting close to some potential tweaks to the Tiers System update. Thanks for your patience.
Also, we've been closely monitoring the rate/volume of catalog submissions.
We compared the month prior to the Tiers update vs. the month since the Tiers update. Our data shows that there has been no increase in the rate/volume of products being submitted to the catalog.
Hope this helps.

ADDED JULY 30

Hi Creators,
Thank you again for your feedback regarding the new Creator Tiers System update.
We’ve made a few changes based on your input and will continue to finesse the Tiers in the future.

Starting August 1, the following changes will be put in place:
Increase Maximum Sales Points - the maximum points allowed for Sales will increase from 55 to 70 points.* This will give Creators with high sales the ability to reach Pro status without Creation or Bonus Points.

Decrease “Sellable Items In Catalog” Requirement - the required number of total sellable Catalog items will decrease for all Tiers except Tier 10. This will benefit most Creators, including Meshers, whose catalogs tend to be smaller. Details can be found in the “About Tiers” page: https://www.imvu.com/creators/about_the_tiers.php

Decrease “Sellable Items in Last 60 Days” Requirement - we have decreased the required number of sellable items submitted in the last 60 days. This will benefit all Creators, including Meshers, whose products take more time to build. Details can be found in the “About Tiers” page: https://www.imvu.com/creators/about_the_tiers.php

*NOTE: The dashboard currently shows 70 points as the maximum allowed for Sales. However, the new Sales points rule won't actually kick in until August 1.
