Probably I should be cautious of this message?

Post by Elaini » Tue Jul 11, 2017 5:18 pm

Just a thread with strange kind of IMVU messages, with names and links removed.

I just got a message like this:
Hi!
This is [______]. We are an up coming freelance sales and marketing team. we would like to promote your products and generate sales for a commission as low as 10% of your earnings.
we are 10 agent team right now and growing.
we will provide you the buyer id to verify your sale.
our tagline is as simple as you get paid we get paid.
please let us know your consent fro further discussion.
Thanks and Regards
He has AP and VIP, but no age verification. I went to his profile page and it said:
Avatar since: 06/26/17

Age: 19
South Africa
Last log on:
What would you say? I wouldn't answer. At least that his avatar is around 17 days old doesn't give me much reason to trust him, but I'm not looking for a marketer to have a cut of my earnings either even if he could be trusted.

yeeaah that definitely looks like a scam. first of all how would they have the buyer ID? The person is purchasing the product directly from you. Second. They can charge you for letting you place a banner on their home pages that's about it. Word of mouth is exactly that. Can't charge someone for saying hey buy this persons product because it's no guarantee the person they are telling went and bought it unless they contact you and say hey I told so and so to buy this, Did they? if so you owe me 10% of that buy or the buyer says hey so and so told me to buy this so I did and u owe them so much % of the purchase cost. Either way though they could be BSing you just to get credits out of you and all they did was randomly gift people and charge you for the sale. SCAM.

I wonder how would they know about the 10% of anything? XD

Also, they don't mention the way they are conducting the marketing or anything...

That sounds pretty shady.

I'd forward a message like that to staff, who knows what they could be doing?
