Tutorial: (How to) Make Transparent/No Background Avi Pics

Post by KewlChique » Wed Apr 26, 2017 2:14 pm

*Note this is a tutorial I made years ago that I'm transferring from the old IMVU forum
*If it is or becomes inaccurate feel free to delete it.

Tutorial: (How to) Make Transparent/No Background Avi Pics
=======

Since this is such a common question I decided to make one new tutorial
to explain how to take transparent pics within the client and then the 2nd
tutorial is just an old tutorial I wrote to train models.

Both methods are quick and easy to do and will save you time.
=============================================

Method 1) How to take transparent pics within client.

Alot of people are still unaware that you can actually take transparent pics
without any editing at all. This is how....

Once your in the Imvu client and got your avi loaded click the camera icon
like your going to take a reg pic. Now you see that chair with the line across on it?

-click it
-example pic: http://userimages-akm.imvu.com/userdata ... 724361.png

When you click that icon you will notice your room will turn green.
-example pic: http://userimages-akm.imvu.com/userdata ... 675590.png

This means your in transparent mode.....
(meaning only your avi and any other avi in the pic section will show)

Now click the camera and the pic will be saved as a new transparent pic
in your default Imvu pic folder. (No background to edit out as it's gone).

-Room and furniture will not appear in the pic at all.
-save the pic to use for a graphic or shrink to turn into a sticker

Now on to the next/best method.....
I recommend you use this technique over the first. If for some reason the next
one doesn't work for you then use the first method. Otherwise use this one at
all times from now on.

Mind you as said.....
Although I wrote this long ago to train models, anyone can and should use this
technique for any and all Imvu avatar shots for the best quality pics.

Also you will need your own image host as at the time of this post these pics
are so big you can literally use them for desktop wallpaper. In most cases they
are twice the size of the pics in method one. Therefore due to the size of these
pics Imvu will not allow you to upload them here.

-use an image host for uploading large pics
-or shrink them down first to upload to Imvu

=============================================

Method 2) How to take transparent pics with trigger words.

Sooo....

I'm gonna explain how to take really good pics that can make
or break you if you don't know how to take these hires shots.

There are two types of shots that every model needs to know how
to take no matter what kind of modeling you're doing on here.

Not only will your pics come out way better than regular print
screenshots, but they can save you from excessive, time consuming
edit hell if you need to do graphics for them.

=====================================
*hiresnobg = pic without background
=====================================

This shot is a designer and editing dream cuz it completely
removes the background out the pic meaning the only thing
you'll see is a large ass, high resolution, transparent pic
that only shows your avi.

Simply put....
giant avi with no background

Note:
I still prefer to use a green room when taking shots like
this reason being cuz sometimes depending on the room
if you got furniture/pose shadow spots in the room those
will show in the shot, but you can easily edit it out.

If you want to avoid shadows spots completely then just
use a green room or any one solid color room with nothing
in it at all, but your avi.
--

Now that you know how this shot works,
here's how you take the shot.....

-go to whateva room you choose
-position your avi how you want it
-zoom in or out as much as you want
-type *hiresnobg
-hit enter

Once you do that, you'll notice your screen may pause
for a sec and your avi will blow up large as hell.

Chat screen will go back to normal after that and the pic
will automatically be saved on your desktop as a hires shot.

Try it now and go look at the pic ^^

You were probably thinking something along the lines
of dayum thats a big ass pic when you saw it.

Yeah I had the same reaction that requires censored
text the first time I tried and saw it too >.>

=====================================
*hiResSnap = pic with background
=====================================

If you need to model a room, furniture or an item when you
need more than just your avi, this is the kind of shot you
wanna take. Unlike the the first shot this one takes a
large ass pic of what's in the room including your avi.

Note:
The more you zoom out....
the more of the room you'll get in the pic.
--

Now that you know how this shot works,
here's how you take the shot.....

-go to whateva room you choose
-position your avi how you want it
-zoom in or out as much as you want
-type *hiResSnap
-hit enter

Once you do that, you'll notice your screen may pause
for a sec and the room will blow up large as hell.

Chat screen will go back to normal after that and the pic
will automatically be saved on your desktop as a hires shot.

=====================================
Finish
=====================================

Now that you got your hires shots, all that's left
to do is to go back to re-size the pic down to the
size you want and edit.

-remember to use these shots from this point on
-practice for a while to get use to zooming and positioning

That is all!
