Need Volunteers for Other Language Support!

Post by admin » Wed Mar 22, 2017 12:01 pm

Hi all, I've been asked about us supporting other languages here.

I would LOVE for us to be able to help out in other languages but me (being a Stereotypical American) am garbage at other languages.

If you are fluent in another language and wouldn't mind stepping up when needed to translate please let me know.
I can make special user groups for each language that we have members who are fluent in so folks know who they can go to for help.

As for separate sections, I would rather keep the other language stuff integrated with the rest unless a true need arises.
Perhaps tagging the subject with the language so those who can help out can spot them better would help.

I'm fluent in Typonese, Dirtinees, Gibberish and Gobbledegook if that's any help to anyone xD.. But seriously I think this is a wonderful idea, opening up this amazing forum to all nations and having it polyglot (multilingual) would help many and you never know, us English speaking members may learn a little something a long the way :D

Translation of most languages shouldn't be much a problem as a matter of fact my homepage is google translate . .

https://translate.google.com/?hl=en#

now I know its probably not the best translator but its convenient to me

Anyways there are very few languages it can't handle or be close enough to figure out . I'd just tell those who asked to
post in whatever language they want . . . or refer them to a translation page or program like google translate -

Basically I don't see where there is a need for alike imvu with all these sections
for other languages , its just too segregating and then the majority of users will never even look there so how will
they get help besides from the one person . Whereas say someone posts in Ukrainian - I can translate it and then
post not only the translation to English but a reply in Ukrainian . This way all can read it and everyone doesn't have
to take time to translate - problem there is I may not be here always if I go away it will need to be manned or grrl'd
by everyone and just translate it .

edit - then again I guess if you had sections titled in the languages it would encourage users to feel welcome and join
then post there - then again maybe not if they are all empty . .

Really most important there is to let anyone of any language know they are welcome
and not to be afraid to post in any language because its probably a stigma that they got yelled at for using poor English
or like a foreign language in other places - re-assure them perhaps in the welcome message that all are welcome . and
use any language . We just had the bad English topic here and everyone loved it so .,. I dunno what else to say but I
doubt it'll be an issue only again make It known . Problem there is if you add 56 languages to the welcome message it
will be about 12 pages long . :geek: I confuse myself more by getting involved sorry  so maybe just add a link
to google translate to the welcome message .
Muah X Meow ^,.^~! TTFN
