Social Forums Open for All to View or Members Only?

Post by admin » Tue Mar 21, 2017 11:01 pm

Hi all, your friendly neighborhood admin here again with another poll to get the general vibe of the community.

Question of the week, The Social Forums... Should they be for our membership's eyes only or for the world to see?
(Currently they are fully visible.)
  • Some advantages of keeping them public:

-You can keep up with the goings on without having to log in.
-Outsiders can see the fun we have and may be more incentivized to join.
  • Some advantage of keeping them private:

-Keeps a special area that just for us to let our hair down.
-Makes an area exclusive to membership only (that may also incentivize others to join).
I'm torn on the subject and would love to hear what you all think on it.
Thanks!

Highlighted in green = This isn't important to me. I would always log in.

Highlighted in red = My first thoughts but maybe that's just because I'm nosey lol :D

My vote would be for private and see how it goes.

I'd say private it, so if more personal matters are brought to light, it's kept to those who took the time to sign up.

Well now . . mucha like Zara I always log in because then I can goto Quick links and see New posts and
Unread posts or like User control panel to search on certain users or my own posts makes things easier to find
for me . If you want to play the somewhat meaningless numbers game as in it is important to have
high amounts of members then privatize and force them to join . On the other hand if numbers don't really
mean much , whereas user-ship friendliness in terms of accessibility is more important then leave it open .

Of course to thrive you need an active community but we kinda have that already right ?
The more choices the better so I'd say leave it as is , other reasons perhaps some may not want to log in if
they are on a public computer . Yet may log in when on the home or more private system .

Also some maybe skeptical to join but then when they read along which can sorta only
be done without privatizing it may change those minds to want to join and interact .
Plus you can always make a private area if needed for those topics so deemed necessary to have such .

Purrrsonally I'm for no border wall but if we ever get a Mexican drug cartel taking over in here then maybe
it would be a good idea :P

Good point

I'm personally not too worried about mass numbers, much more interested in quality over quantity. That said not to exclude anyone but that the quality of help and conversation found here is is of a deeper level than is found in IMVU's new 'Discussions'.

(Except for when we are just being silly, got to have silly time!)

I say leave it open. I like the convenience of popping in to see what's new without having to log in. You can always make a private forum area if it becomes necessary.

My answer is simple.

Keep it private.

Make the Social Forums section, but not its contents, visible. That way, people know that they exist, but they have to join to participate. I would feel more comfortable speaking openly if I knew that only members could read my posts.

O.o, my vote just evened the score.. we're at 50/50 but my personal thought is to keep it private for much the same reasons as people above me have stated, logging in is no big issue and to get to all my own personal notifications etc, I have to log in anyway :)

Perhaps the Social forums don't necessarily need to be hidden from non-members, since the sibjects may not always circle around creating etc. But if they were creating tips or files strictly for the Pixel Pusher creators, leave the forums inaccessible by the guests.

I'm not sure what to vote here. Perhaps I do not care either for the subjects in Social.
